I suffered a catastrophic hard drive failure… lol
So what appears to have happened was that while I was on my trip in Japan, I had discovered that the website suffered from a spontaneous failure of the Database. I attempted to reboot the server hoping it should fix it. I found that the server would not allow SSH connections anymore. Upon arriving home I found the server booting into BIOS. It no longer recognized the SSD.
*The original SSD. It was a QLC HP SATA SSD from like the early 2020s.
I had to purchase a new SSD (Intel X25-E). I found that perhaps QLC SSDs may not be suitable for hosting websites as that appears to be my 3rd SSD Failiure to date.
*The Legendary X25-E SSD. Known for being overengineered and having great durability.
The server is now back up and operational and running with several methods to alleviate disk wear on this new drive. I am not sure if it is necessary but I would like to keep it for as long as possible as SLC’s can sustain an extreme amount of write cycles.
We will see how this website goes. The Intel SSD that is being used now appears to be a trooper and should last for a long time.
